Personal Trainers, The YMCA (or “the Y”) is a nonprofit organization offering programs that promote character development and health among its membership base of families, children, and seniors. Through sports activities and other recreational opportunities provided at its locations across the United States.
Operating under a federation model and comprising national organizations affiliated with the World YMCA, each local YMCA operates individually while all sharing common goals and principles.
YMCA Wellness Orientation
The Y provides many opportunities for members to develop new skills, set goals, and reach them with help and support from our dedicated staff. In addition, we offer complimentary fitness assessments so members can establish baseline fitness measurements before tracking progress with follow-ups.
Y Fit Start is a 12-week program offering personalized training and workout plans tailored specifically to new members or those returning to exercising. Coaches encourage and motivate participants in developing an active lifestyle through physical exercise while making fitness enjoyable, improving health and well-being and building their fitness habit.
Youth Wellness Orientation is mandatory for members aged 8-13 before being permitted to use the Wellness Center. This orientation teaches them how to operate equipment properly and provides ideas on working out effectively, as well as making them feel confident visiting on their own.
LiveSTRONG at the Y is a free program that empowers adults affected by cancer to meet holistic health goals through physical activity and community support. Over twelve weeks, participants work towards building strength, flexibility, endurance and confidence – providing an overall sense of well-being in return.
Small Group Training
If you find it challenging to reach your strength goals on your own, small group training may be the solution. Achieve fitness goals alone is difficult, and without support or accountability from friends or trainers it can be easy to give up. In small group training there’s an extra level of accountability you won’t get from one-on-one sessions; trainers will hold you responsible if you miss sessions while other members hold each other accountable so that attendance becomes routine.
Small group training provides a sense of camaraderie while at the same time serving to prevent workout boredom. A fitness professional can design a plan that ensures each session remains fresh and challenging, keeping workouts interesting.
Private Training
Personal Training services are available at our facilities to members who seek guidance and assistance with their health goals. Our trainers provide an engaging training experience, genuine concern for fitness progress and tailor-made programs designed specifically to your specific needs – including motivation and encouragement necessary to push yourself.
Trainers at Fitness Direct are highly knowledgeable of all of the latest exercise science research and can assist you in weight loss, toning, cardio respiratory endurance training post-rehab rehabilitation sports conditioning efficient movement mobility injury prevention stress management.
Personal training sessions are available at all Y locations and range from individual and semi private training, as well as small group training. Packages of 4, 8, or 12 sessions may be purchased, or you may pay per session; simply visit the Welcome Desk to arrange your visit! New members also get two complimentary sessions.
Pilates
Pilates is a low-impact form of exercise designed to enhance balance and coordination while strengthening deeper core muscles. Pilates also teaches proper breathing, standing tall, and form, which will benefit you throughout your day – from sitting at work or picking up groceries!
Pilates workouts differ from other forms of strength training in that they involve moving through a controlled range of motion while paying close attention to breathing and body positioning during each movement. Most often done on the floor using special equipment like reformers or Cadillacs.
