Personal trainers, The YMCA is an international federation, with each independent local YMCA affiliated to their national organization; those national organizations in turn belong to both Area Alliance and World YMCA.
The Y offers many classes and programs tailored specifically to youth and adults alike, including athletics, arts & crafts, cooking, language learning & theatre performances.
Wellness Orientation
If you’re new to the Y, we recommend scheduling a complimentary Wellness Orientation with one of our trainers. This 30-minute appointment includes reviewing your goals, health history, and familiarizing with our wellness offerings so that we can start you on your wellness journey off right!
Our fitness coaches at the Y can also offer valuable expertise, helping our members with weight loss, toning, cardio respiratory endurance and sports conditioning. In addition, they conduct baseline and follow-up fitness assessments so you can track your progress toward meeting your goals.
Jo Ann Cave is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer who takes great pleasure in helping others reach their fitness goals. A resident of Navarre since 2001, Jo Ann can be found providing personalized guidance on our Bear Levin Studer, Gulf Breeze and Pullum branches – she specializes in working with clients looking to lose weight, build muscle mass or compete in physique competitions!
Small Group Training
Making fitness goals on your own can be daunting and intimidating, requiring you to find motivation and an exercise routine that resonates with you. Personal training may provide this solution; however, many gyms also provide small group training as an option.
Group training sessions are smaller versions of personal training sessions that typically include four to ten people working out together under the direction of one trainer. Each participant works out independently while their trainer oversees and customizes their workout, provides personalized feedback, and fosters an atmosphere of strong camaraderie among participants.
Boot camp, TRX and full-body functional training classes are among the many workouts offered at various YMCA locations and registration is required to attend them. Session prices range from $10 per class up to an unlimited monthly package of small group training classes.
Personal Training
YMCA trainers are nationally certified experts with experience designing wellness programs tailored specifically to each member. They take great pride in upholding the Y’s mission to help people realize their fullest potential and are dedicated to meeting that mission with you.
YMCA of Greater Cleveland offers youth sports programs, day camps, childcare and job training as well as family services such as GED assistance, mentoring and abuse victim counseling. Furthermore, recreational facilities at the Y include gymnasiums, outdoor fields, swimming pools and dance studios.
The YMCA adopted its iconic red triangle as its symbol during the late 19th century to represent its focus on “mind, body and spirit.” This approach had an influence in shaping Boy Scouting (Boy Scouts) as well as helping launch Girl Scouting in America for the first time. Today most local YMCAs are predominantly interdenominational and promote morality and good citizenship without necessarily preaching Christianity; more so they prioritize healthy living and social responsibility over preaching Christianity directly – though religious classes and meetings remain encouraged within their membership base.
Pilates
Pilates helps build a strong core, establish efficient movement patterns, increase flexibility and body awareness and decrease pain levels – all qualities essential to sports performance, injury recovery and pain management. This low impact exercise regimen offers great potential in terms of sports performance enhancement, rehabilitation from injuries or managing chronic conditions.

Get active with other enthusiasts while working out to the music you love with a certified trainer in small group sessions lasting 45 minutes, which incorporate various exercises and equipment.
